It might be an interesting battle.  But Master Splinter wins for one big reason - He can think on his feet.

Shifu is too rigidly set in his form and fighting techniques.  Sure he outmatches the Furious Five.  But both free-spirited Po and Shifu's enemies kick his tail on a regular basis.

Splinter adjusts his style, takes advantage of his surroundings and isn't afraid to get creative in his fighting methods in order to win a fight.  Plus he's nearly undefeated in actual battle.

Sorry to just drop in like this, but does Shifu have ANY feats more impressive than what we've seen in the first movie? I've only seen parts of the second movie and some scenes from the series, but overall I was not impressed by what I saw. Plus, like you said, I heard that he gets his ass kicked a lot.

Eh, just some pretty "inner peace" form movement that might impress Leonardo.  Po later uses this form.... far more creatively than Shifu ever thought of.

My position still stands - Shifu's just not mentally flexible enough to beat Splinter.

I see. So beyond the first movie he doesn't have any good feats? What a shame.

If he does, I haven't seen them.  I've only sat through about seven of the series eps at best.  The whole "It's all about Po" got too annoying to bother with.

Ah, so there still might be hope.......keyword being "might". Like I said, I read some info on the series and saw a couple of fight scenes and Shifu really didn't do much except get his ass kicked and needing Po to save the day. Kung Fu Panda Wiki didn't help much either. The only special thing about Shifu that's mentioned is the Wuxi Finger Hold.....which he never uses, even when the circumstances call for it. -_-

*checks movie clips*  Looks like we see the move twice.  Aaannnd... unless it can be done *FAR* more quickly than it's presented, Shifu isn't going to get the chance to use it.  I'd wager that even Po would be knocked on his rear before pulling it off.

Actually the move is used three times - in the series Po grabs Tai Lung's nephew's finger but doesn't go through with it since he didn't want to kill him. He comments how it was a reflex. Though again, it's Po who uses it, not Shifu.
